The "Chanute" finally landed in Sparta. Built in Boise, Montana by a group
of 5th & 6th graders under the supervison of a talented airplane builder.
The Chanute was donated to the Monroe County Air & Space Museum.
Last saturday a group of aviation supporters met at the museum to meet the
drivers delivering the Chanute. The plane was then moved to the Monroe
County Publishers warehouse until such time s it can be disassembled and re
assembled in the museum (to big for the doors). This will be a job and any
help is welcome.
The workmanship on this airplane is amazing, considering the ages of the
craftsmen (actually crafts-women as the majority of the builders were
girls).
Thanks go out to the Tomah, Black River Falls and LaCrosse R/C clubs that
donated generously to get this beautiful airplane to the museum.
